13.1 Lubricating the transmission (Fig. 5)
Lubricate the drive every 10 to 20 operating hours.
1.
Using the 4 mm Allen key (C) supplied, open the screw
of the lubrication hole (18) on the underside of the
hedge trimmer.
2.
Place the grease gun on the lubrication hole (18).
3.
Squeeze some grease into it.
4.
Screw the screw of the lubrication hole (18) back in.
Attention! Top up with only a little grease. Under no circum-
stances overfill.
13.2 Setting the idle speed
If the cutting device (1) moves at idle or the engine stops by
itself when the throttle is released, a carburettor adjustment
must be made.
Note:
Have carburettor adjustments (e.g. idle speed) carried out
only by qualified specialists to avoid engine damage.
13.3 Cleaning or replacing the air filter (Fig. 6)
Fouled air filters diminish the engine output due to reduced air
supply to the carburettor. Dust and pollen clog the pores of the
foam insert. Regular inspection is therefore essential.
Clean the air filter (17) approx. every 15 operating hours,
more often in particularly dusty conditions.
1.
Set the cold start lever (choke) (4) to "Cold start" so that
no particles of dirt get into the carburettor.
2.
Remove the air filter cover (16). To do this, loosen the
wing screw (15).
3.
Remove the air filter (17) from the foam.
4.
Wash the air filter (17) in lukewarm soapy water. Do
not blow out the particles of dirt, there is a danger of
eye injuries!
5.
Clean the inside of the air filter with a brush.
6.
Allow the air filter (17) to dry and reinsert it again.
7.
Attach the air filter cover (16) again.
Attention:
Never clean the air filter with petrol or inflammable cleaning
agents.
In order to prolong the service life of the engine, a damaged
air filter must be replaced immediately.
m Warning!
Never leave the engine running if the air filter element is not
inserted.
13.4 Clean or replace the fuel filter
Check the fuel filter if necessary. A contaminated fuel filter
hinders the fuel supply.
Open the tank cover (11) and pull the fuel filter through the
opening using a wire hook (not included in the scope of de-
livery).
• In the event of light contamination:
- Remove the fuel filter from the fuel line and clean the filter
in cleaning solvent.
28
GB
• In the event of heavy contamination:
- Replace the fuel filter.
1.
To remove the fuel filter from the fuel line, squeeze the
hose clamp and slide it down.
2.
Now the fuel filter can be removed from the fuel line.
13.5 Check, clean or replace spark plug (Fig. 7/8)
Attention
Do not touch the spark plug (14.1) or the spark plug connector
(14) while the engine is running. High voltage!
Danger of burning if motor is hot. Wear safety gloves!
Check the spark plug and the gap of the electrodes regularly.
13.5.1 Checking the spark plug
1.
Remove the spark plug connector (14) from the spark
plug (14.1).
2.
Unscrew the spark plug (14.1) with the supplied spark
plug wrench (B).
3.
Check the electrode gap. This must be 0.6 to 0.7mm.
13.5.2 Cleaning the spark plug
Check the spark plug for dirt and grime after 10 operating
hours and if necessary, clean it with a copper wire brush.
Then service the spark plug every 50 operating hours.
Replace the spark plug:
• Once a month in the event of regularly use
• If the insulating body is damaged
• In the event of heavy electrode erosion
• In the event of heavily contaminated or oily electrodes
13.5.3 Checking the ignition spark
1.
Remove the spark plug connector (14) from the spark
plug (14.1).
2.
Unscrew the spark plug (14.1) with the supplied spark
plug wrench (B).
3.
Insert the spark plug connector (14) firmly.
4.
Push the spark plug (14.1) against the engine housing
using insulated tongs (not in the vicinity of the spark plug
hole).
5.
Pull firmly on the start pull cord (12).
6.
A spark must be visible between the electrodes when
functioning properly.
13.6 Silencer / outlet opening (Fig. 9)
Do not retighten the silencer screws if the motor is still hot.
1.
Regularly check whether the screws (13.2) of the silenc-
er (13) have come loose or not. Use the 4 mm Allen key
(C) to tighten any loose screws.
2.
Clean the outlet opening (13.1) regularly.
13.7 Cleaning
Clean the petrol hedge trimmer carefully after each use so
that it keeps functioning properly.
Wear protective gloves when cleaning the cutting device!
• Clean the housing with a soft brush or a dry cloth. Water,
cleaning agents and polish must not be used.
• Ensure that the ventilation slots for cooling the motor are
free (danger of overheating).
