3.
Shake the oil-petrol mixture bottle (A) with the fuel mix-
ture again before filling it into the tank.
4.
Carefully open the tank cover (11) of the fuel tank so that
any possible overpressure can be relieved.
5.
Carefully fill the petrol mixture up to the lower edge of
the filler neck. Use a funnel or a filling aid (not included
in the scope of delivery) to avoid spilling of the fuel.
6.
Close the tank cover (11) again. Ensure that the tank
cover (11) is tightly sealed.
7.
Clean the tank cap (11) and the surroundings.
8.
Check the tank and fuel lines for leaks.
9.
Press the "Primer" fuel pump (5) if necessary.
10. Move at least three meters away from the refuelling
area before starting the engine.
9.2 Drain the fuel
Only empty the fuel tank outdoors or in well-ven-
tilated rooms. Make sure that no fuel gets into the
soil (environmental protection). Use a suitable
base.
1.
Hold a collection container under the fuel tank.
2.
Unscrew and remove the tank cover (11) of the fuel tank.
3.
Drain the petrol/oil mixture completely.
4.
Screw the tank filler cap (11) back on by hand.
10. Operation
10.1 Adjusting the rear handle (8) (Fig. 2)
The rear handle (8) can be adjusted in 3 working positions in
order to guide the petrol hedge trimmer easier.
• While adjusting, the throttle (9) cannot be actuated.
1.
Use the left hand to hold the petrol hedge trimmer tight
by the front handle (3).
2.
Push the locking handle (10) backwards and turn the
handle to the desired position.
3.
Release the interlocking handle (10). Ensure that the in-
terlocking handle re-engages and the handle is affixed
securely.
10.2 Starting the device
m Risk of injury!
Only start the petrol hedge trimmer when the cut-
ting device is fitted! Remove the corresponding
transport protection and inspect the device to en-
sure that its operating status is good.
Never use a cutting device that is damaged, poor-
ly adjusted or maintained, or not fully mounted
and secured.
Check before use!
Check that the device is in a safe condition:
• Ensure that the On/Off switch (6), the throttle interlock (7),
and the throttle (9) are functioning properly.
• Check the device for leaks.
• Check the device for visible damage.
• Check that all parts of the device are securely attached.
• Check that all safety devices are in good condition and
functional.

10.2.1 Starting with a cold engine (Fig. 1, 3, 4)
Support the petrol hedge trimmer when starting it and hold it
firmly. Ensure that the cutting device is free.
1.
Remove the blade guard (E) from the cutting device (1).
2.
Set the petrol hedge trimmer down on a firm and level
surface. The cutting device (1) must not come into con-
tact with the floor.
3.
Press the fuel pump primer (5) 7x.
4.
Turn the cold start lever (choke) (4) to "Cold start".
5.
Hold the petrol hedge trimmer firmly by the front handle
(3) and pull the start pull cord (12) out slowly until you
feel the first resistance.
6.
Now pull the start pull cord (12) and the engine should
start. If the engine does not start, repeat the process. As
long as the cold start lever (choke) (4) is set to "Cold
start", the engine will run for only a short time and then
stop.
7.
As soon as the engine has stopped, actuate the throttle
interlock (7) and the throttle (9) together. The (choke) le-
ver (4) will automatically spring back to the "warm start"
operating position.
8.
Now pull the start pull cord (12) again and the engine
should start.
9.
After actuating the throttle lever (9) once, the engine
runs at idle speed.
10. Allow the engine to warm up briefly.
If the engine does not start even after several attempts, read
the "Troubleshooting" chapter.
Attention
Always pull the start pull cord (12) out straight. If it is pulled out
at an angle, friction will occur on the lug. This friction causes
the cord to wear through and wear out faster. Hold the handle
of the start pull cord (12) firmly when the pull cord (12) winds
back in.
Never allow the start pull cord (12) to spin back. This can
result in damage.
Note:
With high outside temperatures, it may be necessary to start
the engine without the cold start lever (choke) (4) even when
the engine is cold.
Note:
If the cutting device (1) moves at idle or the engine stops on
its own when the throttle is released, a carburettor adjustment
must be made (see chapter "13.2 Setting the idle speed").
10.2.2 Starting the engine when warm
1.
The cold start lever (choke) does not have to be set to
"Warm start" to start a warm engine.
2.
Hold the petrol hedge trimmer firmly by the front handle
(3) and pull the start pull cord (12) out slowly until you
feel the first resistance.
3.
Now pull the start pull cord (12) quickly. The device
should start after 1-2 pulls. If the device has still not start-
ed after 6 pulls, repeat the procedure described under
"Starting the engine when cold".
