Troubleshooting
Danger of being injured by falling objects!
The load lifting equipment may tip over if it jams!
–
Stop the hoist immediately.
–
Determine the cause and eliminate the fault.
Fault
The motor starts but the rope
does not move.
Hoist does not work.
The load cannot be lifted /
pulled although the rope can
be lowered / slackened.
EN–20
DANGER!
Cause
Rope jam in the hoist due to damaged or in-
correct rope.
Obstructed rope exit.
The load has jammed or is tied in place.
No compressed air supply.
Working pressure too low.
The motor is dirty.
The motor and / or the silencer are frozen.
The brake does not open.
The load has jammed on an obstacle.
Overload
The rope has run out completely after lower-
ing or slackening without load.
Limit switch (end valve) faulty or tripped.
Clearing
– Support the load (e.g. with a wedge clamp or lever
hoist).
– Cut the rope in front of and behind the hoist.
– Send the hoist to be repaired.
– When available, install the replacement hoist with a
new rope.
– Carefully free or untie the load.
– Check the rope, rigging and load lifting equipment for
their operating safety.
– Check the operator-side compressed air supply.
– Check whether all of the shut-off valves are open.
– Clean the motor, see ' 15.3 Care and maintenance,
Hoist' on page 17.
– Use compressed air oil with anti-freeze for the appro-
priate temperatures.
– Thaw out the motor and the silencer with hot air (not
with an open flame!).
– Open the brake manually and start the motor. If the
motor runs then the brake is defective. Send the hoist
to the manufacturer for repairs or hand over to a spe-
cialist hoisting gear workshop.
– Carefully move the load downwards and remove the
obstacle.
– Check the rope, rigging and lifting equipment to con-
firm their operating safety.
– Check the load and reduce if necessary.
– Reeve the rope according to the block and tackle prin-
ciple (see Fig. 9 on page X).
– Feed the rope back in.
– Determine the cause.
– Avoid reoccurrence, e. g. by using a longer rope.
– Lower until the limit switch (end valve) is free.
– Check the limit switch (end valve) and replace if nec-
essary.
