Note!
The voltage tester may turn itself on automati-
cally even if only one test probe is connected to
voltage or a statically charged object. This has no
significance.
Voltages 8 ... 1220 V
Securely contact the test electrodes with the test
points. The instrument is switched on automatically
at a voltage of 8 V. If „continuity testing" has been
activated, automatic switching occurs to „voltage
testing". Depending on voltage, either the red LED ≥
8, 230 or 400 lights up. The instrument automatically
selects the measuring range which corresponds to
the applied voltage (see characteristic values), and
voltage „V" or „mV" is displayed.
Voltages >1220 V
If a voltage of more than 1220 V AC/DC is applied, an
acoustic warning signal is generated and the display
value flashes. Alternating voltages of up to 1220 V
can be reliably measured. To identify alternating
voltage „~" appears on the left of the display value.
Direct voltage measurements of up to 1500 V can be
performed reliably.
Frequencies >2 kHz
Voltages with frequency of more than 2 kHz are
indicated by the flashing Hz symbol.
Note:
With measurings of more than 500 V in
frequency ranges > 4 kHz parasitic coupling may
affect indication on the LCD display.
Reduce this effect by holding the DSP only on the
sides of the casing.
Voltages < 8 V
Press the button
.
For voltages of less than 8 V, the instrument must be
switched on or over with this button. The red LED „≥
8"does not light up in this case. Voltage is displayed
as described above.
Polarity
The voltage type is indentified by the symbols
~ and -.
Is the plus pole from direct voltage connected to
the test electrode identified with the „+" symbol, no
sign appears.
When the minus pole is connected „-" appears on
the left of the displayed value.
4.3 Tests with the Accessible Electrode
"Pol-L1-Sensor"
The MultiSafe DSP 3 is equipped with an accessible
electrode "Pol-L1-Sensor", and a triangular LED for
phase testing and phase sequence indication.
Attention!
While working with the accessible electrode the
perceptibility of the display may be impaired (see
chapter 2).
Note!
Tests performed with the accessible electrode are
only possible at systems working with properly
grounded a.c. voltage systems at voltages of at least
165 V to earth.
