Filter tank stainless steel / Maintenance
6.5 Replacing the filter material
Your filter system will achieve the best results if you have the filter material replaced after 3 to 5 years.
The filter material and filter tank are matched to each other. Only use the BEHNCKE
indicated in the bulk table.
See chapter 4 "Technical data"
To replace the filter material, a service technician is imperative, as it is when
you first start up the system.
•
Backwash the filter system.
•
Switch off the system.
•
Set backwash valve (2.1) to "Closed".
•
Open the vent valve (1.1) on the filter tank.
•
Drain the filter tank via the drain nozzle (1.11).
•
Loosen the clamping ring screw connection (1.3) and remove the clamping ring (1.3).
•
Remove the tank lid (1.2) and the O ring (1.4).
•
Remove old filter material.
•
Cover the upper water distributor (1.6-1.9) and the vent nozzle (1.12) with a cloth
or plastic bag.
•
Fill with water to a height of approx. 15 cm.
•
Carefully fill in the new filter material (see Technical data, chapter 4.4) and
level the filter bed surface.
•
After completing the filling process, remove the cloth or plastic bag.
Check that the upper water distributor (1.6) is located in the centre of the tank.
•
Clean the sealing surface on the tank rim and the tank lid.
•
Clean O ring (1.4) and apply assembly grease.
•
Place O ring (1.4) over the insert ring (1.5).
S hould the O ring become smaller as a result of temperature fluctuations, it must be
pulled to the correct length. Make sure that it isn't damaged and replace it immediately if
necessary.
•
Push the backwash valve operating lever down and select the function "Backwash".
Carry out the backwashing process as described in the section "Installation and first start-up" in
chapter 7.8 / 7.9.
