4.5 Pouring in the filter material

The following steps must be carried out in this order: (item numbers, see chapter 4.1)
1. Loosen the clamping ring screw connection and remove the clamping ring (1.3).
2. Remove the tank lid (1.2) and the O ring (1.4).
3. Check the filter tank for damage and completeness of the installation elements.
4. Screw the associated manometer with the vent valve (1.1) into the tank lid.
5. C heck the nozzle pipes (1.14) and ventilation pipe, including the ventilation nozzle (1.12), fit properly in
the lower water distributor (1.13).
6. Cover the water funnel (1.6) and the ventilation nozzle with a cloth or plastic bag.
7. Fill with water to a height of approx. 15-20 cm and then carefully insert the filter material.
(Please refer to Chapter 4.4 for the correct filter filling)
When introducing the filter material, ensure that the coarse grain size (0.7 – 1.25 mm)
o f the filter material is filled in first, then the fine grain size (0.4 – 0.8 mm)
if different grain sizes are provided.
Level the filter bed surface after inserting each type of grain.
8. A fter the filter material has been filled in, the cloth or plastic bag must be removed. Ensure that the
upper water distributor (1.6-1.9) is located in the centre of the tank.
9. Clean the sealing surface on the top tank opening (1.10). In addition, clean the sealing surface of the
tank lid (1.2), clean the O ring (1.4) and apply assembly grease to the O ring. Place the O ring over the
insert ring (1.5) and then place the lid on in such a way that the manometer is clearly visible.
10. Attach clamping ring (1.3) and tighten clamping ring screw connections alternately (max. 6 Nm).
12. Push the backwash valve operating lever down and select the function "Backwash".
13. Open the lid for the primary pump screen and fill the primary screen with water
CAUTION
Before the filter is put into operation, the filter material must be sufficiently
backwashed (min. 4 minutes) to rinse out any fine grain present.
