9.8 Testing diodes

NOTICE
Voltage-carrying components can damage the multimeter
● Disconnect components from power supply
● Discharge components before measuring/testing
1. Disconnect the component you want to measure from the power supply and
completely discharge it.
2. Press the power button to switch the multimeter on.
3. Repeatedly press the button FUNC until the display shows the diode symbol
.
4. Connect the red test lead to the measurement socket INPUT.
5. Connect the black test lead to the measurement socket COM.
6. Connect the red test probe to the anode (+) and the black test probe to the
cathode (-).

The display shows the continuity voltage (UF) in volts.
à
The display shows "OL" if the diode is reverse-biased (UR) or interrupted.
7. Remove the test probes from the measured object.
