STARTING
THE GENERATOR
1. Open the petrol inlet by setting
the petrol valve to position "1".
2. Set the choke lever to the
"CLOSE" position.
3a. For manual start-up (using the pull
cord), set the operation switch to
position I and then start the gene-
rator by tugging on the pull cord.
3b. For electrical start-up using the battery (a battery must
be connected), set the operation switch to position II
and hold it in this position until the generator starts-up.
4. After starting up the engine, set the choke lever to the
"OPEN" position, otherwise the engine will be choked.
SWITCHING THE GENERATOR TO GAS OPERATION
y When using gas as the fuel, allow the engine to run for
approx. 1 minute on petrol in order to heat it up and
then gradually do the following:
1. When using propane-butane
(LPG), push down the "golden"
toggle switch on the mixer; when
using natural gas (NG) pull the
toggle switch up. The position of the toggle switch with
respect to the type of gas used, i.e. LPG or NG, is shown on
the pictogram that is located next to the toggle switch.
2. Shut off the petrol fuel supply by setting the fuel valve
to position"0" and wait until the sound of the engine starts
to be irregular due to an insufficient supply of petrol.
3. Then completely open the gas outlet valve on the
pressure vessel to provide a sufficient supply of
gas and then gradually open the gas supply to the
generator by turning the lever to the "ON" posi-
tion. When transitioning from petrol to gas, it is
important not to rush and to open the gas supply
to the generator gradually based on the engine
noise (it may take 1-2 minutes).
y Prior to starting the generator, carefully read the entire user's manual before first use and keep it with the product so that
the user can become acquainted with it. If you lend or sell the product to somebody, include this user's manual with it.
Prevent this user's manual from being damaged. The manufacturer takes no responsibility for damages or injuries arising
from use that is in contradiction to this user's manual. Before using this generator, first acquaint yourself with all the con-
trol elements and parts, proper and safe use, as well as how to immediately turn off the generator in the event of a dan-
gerous situation arising. Before using, first check that all parts are firmly attached and check that no part of the machine,
such as for example safety protective elements, is damaged or incorrectly installed, or missing. Do not use a generator
with damaged or missing parts and have it repaired or replaced at an authorised service centre for the HERON® brand
- see chapter Servicing and maintenance, or the website address at the introduction to this user's manual.
y In the event that an abnormal sound or vibration becomes evident during the operation of the generator, immediately
turn it off and identify the cause of this condition. If the cause is the result of a technical malfunction inside the genera-
tor, have it repaired at an authorised service centre for the HERON® brand. For safety reasons, the user must not tamper
with the internal parts of the generator. Only original spare parts of the manufacturer HERON® may be used for repairs.

As a result of the combustion of two types of fuel in the cylin-
der, the sound of the engine will be irregular, however, when
1
the petrol is fully combusted, the engine operation will stabilise.
TURNING OFF
THE GENERATOR
1. Set the power switch on the generator to the "0" (OFF)
position.
2a. Set the gas valve on the generator to the "OFF" position.
2b. When petrol is used as the fuel source, then set the fuel
valve to the "0" position - if the petrol valve is not closed,
then during handling of the generator, liquid petrol could
enter into the cylinder, which would require a service cen-
tre to clean it out without entitlement to a warranty repair.
3. Close the gas outlet from the propane-butane pressure
vessel or the gas system.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
ABOUT USING THE GENERATOR
y In the event that the generator is used as a backup
electrical energy source for powering TN-C-S (TN-C)
networks (i.e. fixed electrical grids in apartments,
houses, etc.), the connection of the generator must
be performed only by an electrician with the neces-
sary qualifications, since it must be put into balance
with the IT network of the generator with the TN-C-S
(TN-C) grid. The generator may be connected to
a TN-C-S (TN-C) grid only via an overvoltage protec-
tion device that is built into the TN-C-S (TN-C) grid.
y In the event that the generator is installed as a backup
power source, it should be put into test operation (started-
-up) 1-2× per month to verify that it is ready for backup use.
