Connecting the standby charger

Connection variants (fig. 2, page 4)
7.1
2.5 A
This variant is suitable for smaller, especially older vehicles with low quiescent current load when
stationary. Only one house battery input and one starting battery output are used.
5 A
This variant is suitable for larger motor homes or vehicles that meet the latest Euro 6 standard and
have a higher quiescent current consumption. Both house battery inputs and both starting battery
outputs are used; the terminals are connected in parallel.

7.2
1. Determine the required cross section of the cable in relation to the cable length:
– Cable length ≤ 3 m: 1.5 mm²
– Cable length > 3 m: 2.5 mm²
2. Strip 5 mm of the insulation from one side of the cables.
3. Insert these cable ends into the corresponding terminal:
– Lead acid, lead gel or AGM house battery (1): IN – Bord Pb
– Lithium house battery (1): IN – Bord Li
– Starting battery (2): OUT – Start 2.5 A
4. Fix the cables by tightening the terminal screw.
5. Fit a fuse in the cables close to the batteries:
– 2.5 A variant: 5 A
– 5 A variant: 10 A
6. Connect the other ends of the cables to the positive terminal of the batteries.
7. For a proper function ensure that both batteries are connected to the same vehicle ground. If
this is not the case, make an additional negative connection (3) between the two batteries.
