6 Fitting the automatic charger and
putting it into service
!
WARNING!
• Disconnect the mains plug before connecting or disconnecting the
DC voltage connection.
• Batteries with a cell short circuit may not be charged. There is a
danger of explosions due to the explosive gases.
• Nickel-cadmium batteries and non-rechargeable batteries may not
be charged with the IU0U automatic charger. The sleeves of these
batteries can burst in an explosive manner.

NOTICE!
The IU0U automatic charger must be installed in a place that is protected
from moisture and humidity.
Make sure:
• The installation location is well ventilated.
• The installation surface is flat and sufficiently firm.
The air intake on the underside and the air outlet on the back of the IU0U
automatic charger must be kept clear.
To connect the IU0U automatic charger only use cables not longer than
2 m with a cross section of 1.5 mm² or more.
➤ Fix the IU0U automatic charger with suitable screws at the desired place.
Use the Sie IU0U automatic charger's fixing holes.
➤ Fit wire sleeves to the ends of cables which you wish to connect to the IU0U auto-
matic charger (fig. 2 1, page 3).
➤ Use crimping tongs (fig. 2 2, page 3) and make sure the the wire sleeves are
fitted tightly (fig. 2 1, page 3).
➤ Connect the cables (fig. 3 1, page 3) to the two terminals on the front side as
follows:
– Positive terminal (fig. 3 2, page 3): red cable
– Negative terminal (fig. 3 3, page 3): black cable
➤ Connect the battery to the IU0U automatic charger:
– Positive terminal of the battery: red cable
– Negative terminal of the battery: black cable
➤ Connect the 230 V mains power cable to a 230 V socket.
✓ The IU0U automatic charger now charges the battery.
