Adjusting the spindle return spring
The pretensioning of the return spring in the
spindle feed mechanism can in time become
reduced or too high, so that the return
movement of the spindle goes too slow or
too fast. In which case the spring should be
adjusted.
FIG. 12
FIG. 13
1.
Lower the table for better access.
2.
Work on the left side of the machine.
3.
Put a screwdriver into the bottom recess
(U6) on the front of the spring housing to
hold the housing in place.
4.
Undo the outer nut (U2) (check nut) with
a spanner (opening width 14 mm).
5.
Hold the spanner in the recess in the
spring housing and undo the inner nut
(U5) until the recess (U4) comes free from
the ridge (U3).
WARNING!
Hold firm and work carefully – the spring is
tensioned.
6.
Carefully turn the spring housing (U1)
anticlockwise with the screwdriver as
a handle until the recess (U4) can be
pressed in over the ridge (U3) again.
7.
Lower the spindle to its bottom position
while holding the spring housing (U1) in
the same position. If the spindle moves
up and down smoothly, well balanced and
reasonably quickly, tighten the inner nut
(U5).
8.
If the return of the spindle is too slow
and "slack", tension the spring more by
repeating steps 3-5. If the return of the
spindle is too quick and "taut", release
the spring by repeating steps 5 and 6, but
turn the spring housing clockwise instead.
9.
Lock the inner nut (U2) by tightening the
outer nut (U5) (check nut) with a spanner.
56
NOTE:
Do not overtighten, and check that nothing
obstructs the movement of the spindle.
Adjusting the tangential play
of the spindle
Lower the spindle to its bottom end position
and try to turn it in the direction of rotation.
There should normally be a little play, but
adjust as follows if there is excessive play.
FIG. 14
1.
Undo the check nut (V2).
2.
Turn the adjuster screw (V1) clockwise to
reduce the play, but not enough to brake
the movement of the spindle up and
down (a little play is normal).
3.
Tighten the check nut (V2).
USE
WARNING!
Always switch off the machine and wait until
it has completely stopped before cleaning
and other maintenance.
NOTE:
Do not overload the motor. The motor is
overloaded if there is an audible reduction of
the speed when drilling. Never overload the
motor so much that it stops.

ELECTRICAL CONNECTION

The AC motor is supplied ready to use. The
connection complies with the requirements
in the current VDE and DIN regulations. The
power point and any extension cords must
comply with these requirements. Only connect
the motor to 230 V 50 Hz. Extension cords up
to 25 m must have a cross-sectional conductor
area of at least 1.5 mm², and extension cords
longer than 25 m a conductor area of at least
2.5 mm². The power point must be fused with
a 16 A delayed action fuse.
