bit by bit, ensuring that the compression stocking is not
overstretched. In the interim, check that it is correctly
fitted on the toe and heel. If required, correct this once
you have put it on by pulling the compression stocking
down slightly (tip: this is easier if you use the gloves).
Tip for compression stockings with open ends: After
this step, remove the donning aid by folding the foot part
of the compression stocking up towards the heel and
pulling the donning aid out. After this, pull the foot com-
ponent over your foot again and spread the knitted fa-
bric evenly up to the start of the toes.
E. Finally, check the position of your compression sto-
cking. A knee stocking should be positioned around
two centimetres below the back of the knee, a thigh
stocking should be positioned around two centime-
tres under the fold of the buttock. Tights should be
comfortable around the waist and the gusset should
fit securely around the crotch.
Tip for thigh stockings:
To protect the seam, grip the knitted fabric carefully
when putting the compression stocking on - do not grip
the seam of the top band.
Tip for compression tights:
Turn the pair of tights completely inside out. Then com-
plete steps B and C for each side. After this, distribute
the material on both sides evenly and in stages, first
pulling up one side a little, then the other, until the tights
are pulled up to your waist.
Tip for taking off the stocking:
Fold the compression stocking down in stages until you
reach the heel. Ensure that you switch between the
sides when removing stockings (lower one side slightly
first, then the other). When you reach the heel, grip the
knitted fabric and pull it over the foot. If the stockings
are ankle stockings, do not tug on the top band. Ask your
medical specialist retailer about handy doffing aids such
as the medi Butler Off or the medi 2in1. They make it far
easier to take off the compression stocking.
9. Storage instructions - how long can I store
my mediven compression stocking, and how
should I store it?
The products must be stored in a dry place and out of
direct sunlight and heat.
• The hourglass symbol shown on the box label or on the
measurement chart shows the latest date that the
compression clothing can be used up until. For stand-
ard products the expiry date has been calculated by
adding the maximum storage duration for standard
products (36 months) and the maximum amount of
time that the stocking can be used for (6 months).
• Models that have been tailored for the patient and
made-to-measure versions are intended for imme-
diate use. Therefore, the expiry date is calculated by
adding the production, transportation and delivery
duration (one month) and the maximum amount of
time that the stocking can be used for (six months).
