Principle of operation

The Hei-VOLUME Distimatic Pro automatic module has been specially developed for
use in combination with rotary evaporators. The automatic module enables the auto-
matic filling and draining of the system in continuous operation.
The following processes can be controlled with the Hei-VOLUME Distimatic Pro auto-
matic module:
– filling the evaporation flask
– drainage of distillate
– drainage of residue
The following operating modes are available:
– SENSOR MODE
Standard mode for automatic filling and draining in continuous operation (see
section "Sensor mode" on page 115).
– TIME MODE
The time mode is used specifically for processing media that forms sticky
residue or that tends to foam (see section "Time mode" on page 125).
RINSE MODE

The rinse mode is used to flush the supply lines and drains with a solvent for
cleaning purposes (see section "Rinse mode" on page 130).
MANUAL MODE

In manual mode, the connected rotary evaporator can be operated for
processing small quantities (see section "Manual mode" on page 135).
In automatic operation (sensor and time mode), the distillate and – depending on the
variant (with or without automatic drainage of residue) – the residue is drained from
the collector or the evaporative flask applying overpressure. Distillate and residue can
also be drained manually using the function buttons of the HMI. The required over-
pressure is generated by a compressor integrated into the control box of the automatic
module.
The evaporation flask is filled from the educt container using the vacuum in the rotary
evaporator system. The required vacuum is generated by an external vacuum pump.
A switching valve is used to switch between the compressor (pressurized operation) and
the vacuum pump (vacuum operation).
