The surfaces are damaged by

use care products for the outer
surfaces.

Wherever possible, defrost the
appliance in the winter, when the
outside temperature is low. Then you can
store the food on the balcony during the
defrosting process,
for example.
Alternatively, you can wrap up the frozen
food tightly in newspaper and store it in a
cool room or an insulation bag.

1. Before defrosting, generate additional
freezing capacity by setting the freezer
compartment to Super (3) for 3 hours
by means of the Mode button (5).
2. After this time, switch off the appliance
by pressing the Adjust button (1) for 5
seconds.
3. Pull out the power plug from the
socket or switch off the fuse.
4. Take out the food from the refrigerator
and the frozen food from the freezer
compartment.
5. Ensure that your food remains
sufficiently cooled.
6. Place a bowl with hot, but not boiling
water in the freezer compartment. This
accelerates the defrosting process.

7. Leave the door open during the
defrosting process and place a cleaning
rag in front of the appliance to absorb
leaking condensation.
The defrosting time depends on the
thickness of the ice layer. Based on
experience, you can begin with the
cleaning of the appliance after approx.
1 hour.
8. Wipe out the interior with warm water
and detergent.
When wiping again, add a few drops of
vinegar to the water to prevent mould
formation.
9. Clean the door seal with clear water
only; it is sensitive to oil and grease.
10. Wipe everything completely dry,
including the door seal, and aerate
briefly.
11. Put the food back in the
refrigerator/freezer compartment.
12. Plug the power plug back in the socket
or switch on the fuse again.
13. Press and hold the Adjust button (1) for
5 seconds. The appliance will switch on.
14. Set the desired refrigeration
temperature (see "Setting the
temperature" on page 38).
15. As soon as the temperature −18 °C has
been reached in the freezer, turn the
temperature regulator back to its normal
position.
