SATA spray master RPOperating Instructions
If it is not possible to rectify a malfunction using the remedies described
below, send the paint spray gun in to the SATA Service Department (see
Chap. 16 for address).
Malfunction
Uneven spray jet (pul-
sating/sputtering) or
air bubbles in gravity
flow cup.
Spray pattern too
small, slanted,
one-sided or split.
Round/flat fan control
cannot be turned.
Paint spray gun does
not shut off air.
Material bubbles up in
gravity flow cup.
Cause
Paint nozzle not se-
cured tightly.
Bore holes in air noz-
zle clogged with paint.
Paint nozzle tip (paint
nozzle in) damaged.
Round/flat fan control
turned too sharply
counterclockwise;
spindle loose in gun
threading.
Air piston seat dirty.
Air piston is worn.
Atomized air entering
gravity flow cup via
paint passage. Paint
nozzle not tightened
enough. Air nozzle not
screwed on complete-
ly, air circuit clogged,
faulty seating or dam-
aged nozzle insert.

Corrective action

Tighten paint nozzle
using universal wrench.
Clean air nozzle. Read
and follow cleaning
instructions (see 10).
Check fluid tip pin for
damage and replace
nozzle set if necessary.
Unscrew and remove
control using a sin-
gle-ended open-jaw
wrench; repair or re-
place completely.
Clean air piston seat.
Read and follow
cleaning instructions
(see 10).
Replace air piston and
air piston packing.
Secure, clean or re-
place parts.
