5.2 Installing the cover

As standard, covers are made of fibre glass and hatches of
aluminium. Standard covers are pre-installed.
The safety grid is split when the pit diameter is

greater than 2 m.
From PS.G.30 and up the pumping station has both a
maintenance hatch and a service hatch.
Warning
The pit must be locked to prevent unwanted
access.

5.2.1 Installing a cover approved for traffic
The covers are available for all pit sizes as an optional cover. The
cover is a concrete slab with a steel hatch.
The maximum angle of inclination when lifting

the cover is 25 °.

The foundation and bedding layer for the cover
must be of such nature so the surface can carry

the load that the concrete cover is rated for.
Observe local regulations.
Installing a cover with concrete ring
Be careful when compacting the backfill to prevent damage to the
top of the pit. The fraction size under the cover and close to the
pit top must be 2 to 20 mm.
Lower the concrete ring onto the compacted backfill. A blacktop
can be made on the ring.
The pit comes with a 500 mm collar that must be

cut to the right length on the installation site.

The pit must not support the ring.

Installing a cover with air space
Lower the cover onto the pumping station when the backfill has
been compacted to the top level of the pumping station. See
figures 15 and 16.
After installation, there must be an air space of 150 mm between
the cover and pit. See figures 15
