13.4 Replacement / Drain of Water / Removal of Air from
Fine Fuel Filter (Every 1000 Hours or More Frequently,
if Required)
– Loosen the fuel filter (40001 - 60001: Order-Nr. 12270392 /
100001 - 150001: Art.-Nr. 13020488 ) with the help of an ordinary
belt wrench and screw it out.
– Remove fuel from the filter.
– If required, clean the surface with which the filter seal comes in
contact.
– Apply a thin layer of diesel fuel to the new filter element sealing.
– Screw the filter by hand until its seal comes in contact with the corresponding surface.
– Tighten the filter snugly without using any tools.
– Check that there is no leak of fuel.
Sludge drain:
- Place an appropriate vessel under the dirt trap.
- Turn out the threaded plugs and drain the water. Reinstall the plugs.
- Remove air from the fuel system.
- After the engine is started, check that there are no fuel leaks.
Removal of Air from the System
– when putting the system into operation, after maintenance service and after full use of the fuel in the tank it is necessary to
remove air from the fuel system.
– Stop the engine.
– Place an appropriate vessel under the dirt collector.
– Screw out the air vent bolt.
– Start pumping fuel with the help of the hand pump
until air-bubble-free fuel jet flows from the air vent
hole.
– Screw in the air vent bolt.
– Start the engine.
– Make sure that there are no fuel leaks.
