Instructions for use Flexima®/Softima® Active
Flexima®/ Softima® Active is a one-piece range of
collecting pouches for enterostomates and urostomates.
It offers a unique skin protector developed by B.
Braun using the B. BraunTech (flat) formulation (for
enterostomates) which provides high comfort thanks to
its high flexibility and immediate adhesivity.
Available in*:
- closed pouch
- drainable pouch with an integrated soft clamp called
"Roll'up"
- Drainable (for urostomies) with a drainage tab connectable
to an overnight pouch.
- flat or convex
Indications for the soft convex skin protector:
The Soft Convex skin protector is specifically designed to
ensure a secure seal around the stoma:
n
for stomas located in light or moderate skin folds
n
or flushed or slightly retracted stomas
The soft convex skin protector helps to prevent leakages,
by tight-fitting the peristomal area. For extra security you
can use one out of the three positions (H,I) of the belt loops
of the soft convex skin protector to fix the belt.

Preparation of the skin:

n Wash your hands.
Gently clean the area around the stoma with
n
lukewarm water and carefully dab the skin with

soft tissues.
Avoid using any disinfectant (either alcohol or any
n
antiseptic) as this could damage the skin and prevent
proper adhesion of the pouch.

Before setting up your appliance, first:
n Cut the skin protector if you are using a cut-to-fit pouch
so it fits the size of your stoma, taking good care to
follow the cutting guide print (do not cut beyond the
limit). Ensure you leave 2 to 3mm around the stoma:
it should not be «occluded» by the skin protector (A).

Fitting your appliance:
n Separate the pouch walls by crumpling it slightly to
introduce air into it.
n Peal off the clear release by pulling on the arrow on
the tab.
n Position the bottom of the skin protector around the
base of the stoma (B).
n Press the bottom part of the skin protector smoothly
onto the skin, then place and press onto the upper part
(the skin protector is flexible and adapts perfectly to
body movements) (C).
n Smooth the entire surface of the skin protector, working
from bottom to top, to ensure perfect adhesion.
In case of error in the positionning, it is possible to
n
remove the pouch and replace it properly.
If you wish to use a belt (with a convex product), choose
two loops that are diametrically opposed (H,I).
