2.4 General safety instructions
BENDER equipment is built in accordance with the state of the art and the established safety
requirements. Nevertheless, operating it could endanger life and limb of the user or of third
parties and/or adversly effect the BENDER equipment or cause material damage on other de-
vices.
Use Bender equipment only:
– for its designated use
– if it is in perfect safety condition
– in compliance with the rules and regulations that apply for accident prevention at the place
of application
Any fault which could impair safety must be eliminated immediately.
Do not make any inadmissible alterations, and use spare parts and additional devices only if
they are sold by or recommended by the manufacturer of the equipment. Failure to observe
this can lead to fires, electric shocks and injuries.
Warning signs must always be clearly legible. Replace damaged or illegible signs immediately.
To prevent problems associated with overloads and short-circuits, as well as selectivity in the
entire installation, adequate dimensioning of the emergency power supply, generator system
and all cable and lines is essential. Observe the relevant national standards.
2.5 Warranty and liability
Warranty and liability claims for personal injuries and damage to property are excluded if
they are attributable to one or more of the following causes:
Not used as designated
Inappropriate installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance
Operation of equipment with defective safety devices or improperly installed or dysfunctional
safety or protective equipment
Failure to observe the instructions in this operating manual and the supplement "Important
safety notes for BENDER products" with regard to transportation, storage, and installation
Unauthorised structural modifications
Failure to observe the technical data
Inappropriate repairs and the use of spare parts or accessories which do not have manufac-
turer's approval
Disasters caused by foreign objects or by causes beyond control
2.6 Guarantee
BENDER guarantees that the supplied equipment is free of defects in workmanship and ma-
terials under normal conditions of storage and operation for a time period of 24 months after
delivery.
This guarantee does not cover maintenance work of any kind. The guarantee is only valid
for the initial purchaser, and does not cover products or component parts which have been
used improperly or on which alterations have been made. All guarantees shall expire if the
equipment is used for other than its designated use or under abnormal conditions.
The guarantee obligation shall be limited to the repair or exchange of equipment which is
returned to BENDER within the guarantee period. This is further limited to products which
BENDER recognises as defective, and where the fault is not attributable to improper handling
