Bus System PROFIBUS DP
7.1 Principles of PROFIBUS DP
The protocol PROFIBUS DP is a master - slave Bus system, onto which a maximum of 2
masters and 122 passive slaves can be connected. There are two types of transmission
media available:
- 2-wire-cable (shielded)
- fibre cable
Details relating to ordering specifications and technical data may be obtained from Sie-
mens.
The transmission speeds are set on the master and are recognised automatically by the
slave. The following transmission rates may be set : 9.6 / 19.2 / 93.75 / 187.5 / 500 / 1500 /
3000 / 6000 / 12000 kBaud.
