Sanding Plate Brake
In the case of eccentric movement without mechanical
coupling, the integrated backing pad brake reduces the
number of vibrations at no-load, thus preventing furrows
occuring when positioning the machine on the work piece.
A steadily increasing no-load speed indicates that the
brake ring is worn and must be replaced.
Choice of Saning Movement (Fig. A)
The eccentric disc sander offers two different kinds of sand-
ing movement which can be set using the rocker lever 9.
The rocker level 9 must only be set when the machine
has come to a complete standstill!
Eccentric movement without mechanical coupling:
The eccentric movement without mechanical coupling is
set when the rocker lever 9 is in position A. An independent
rotation is superposed on the vibrations of tha backing
pad and thereby a furrow-free surface is attained during
precision sanding and the sanding sheet is only subject to
a minimum amount of wear.
Eccentric movement with mechanical coupling:
The eccentric movement with mechanical coupling is set
when the rocker lever 9 is in position B. The movement of
the backing pad is a combined rotating and eccentric
movement whereby a high abrasion is reached during
coarse sanding. In addition this operating mode is extremely
suuitable for sanding varnish and paint.
Any resistnace felt when switching over the rocker lever 9
can be overcome by slightly turning the backing pad.
7. Inserting/Removing Tools
Before any work on the machine itself, pull the mains plug
Selecting the rubber backing pad
The eccentric sander is fitted with an all-purpose rubber
backing pad of medium hardness. However, rubber backing
pads with varying degrees of hardness may fitted,
depending on the type of application (see application table):

Super-soft backing pad:
Suitable for polishing large surfaces and for particularly
sensitive sanding work (also curved surfaces).
Soft rubber backing pad:
All-purpose, suitable for all sanding work.
Hard rubber backing pad:
Suitable for high sanding performance, particulary on large,
flat surfaces.
Fitting the sanding tools (Fig. C)
The machine is fitted with a quick-change (connecting link)
system, enabling sanding tools to be changed easily without
the aid of an additional tool.
Before fitting new sanding discs 12, remove any dust and
dirt from rubber backing pad 7. Simply press the sanding
discs or polishing tools onto rubber backing pad, ensuring
that the sanding wheel holes are aligned with the holes in
the rubber backing pad.
Only use original STORCH sanding and polishing tools
with the pressure-sensitive connecting link.
Changing the rubber backing pad (Fig. C)
For changing the backing pad 7, remove it from ist carrier
plate 11.
When mounting the backing pad 7 make sure that the teeth
on the carrier plate grip into the grooves on the backing
pad.
Damaged rubber backing pads must be replaced
immediately.
Changing the backing pad carrier plate (Fig. D)
When changing the backing pad carrier plate 11, pull off
the sanding sheet or polishing tool, respectvely. Loosen
screw 13 with a Torx screwdriver and remove.
When placing on the backing pad made sure that the teeth
on the coupling grip into the grooves of the backing pad
carrier plate.
Hold the backing pad carrier plate 11 firmly and tighten
the screw 13 firmly with a Torx screwdriver.
8. Dust extraction device
Dust extraction prevents large accumulations of dust, high
concentrations of dust in the ambient air and facilitates
disposal.
For long periods of working with wood or for commercial
use on materials that produce dust that is detrimental to
health, the machine is to be connected to a suitable external
dust extraction device.
Adapter for vacuum cleaner connection
The adapter enables the sanding dust to be vacuumed
using a nromal household vacuum cleaner.
The rubber reducer can be used for reducing the connection
diameter on the diameter of the vacuum cleaner tube.
Mounting the dust bag (Fig. B)
For smaller sanding jobs the dust bag supplied with the
machine can be used extraction. For eccentric operation
with and without mechanical coupling the machine offers
