NSTALLATION OF AN
The COUGAR 4.1 RTR is equipped with built-in RC system, receiver, steering servo and throttle/brake servo. It is also equipped with
a remote control transmitter. This top quality system allows you to operate your model without any problem.
M
OUNTING THE STEERING SERVO
The steering of "COUGAR 4.1" is designed as axle leg steering.
At the same time, the steering knuckle arms are connected with a three-part
steering link. The pivoting movement of the servo control lever has an impact on
the steering linkage and on one arm of the servo saver.
The servo saver consists of two right-angled levers, which can be moved
against each other against a spring in one level with the servo steering lever.
The second lever arm of the servo saver steers the center part of the steering
link, hence causing the wheels to turn. (an impact on the wheels has a reverse
effect via the steering knuckle arm on the steering link and the second arm of
the servo saver, prevents the flexible connection to the first lever arm of the
servo saver, that this impact is immediately guided into the servo, thus dama-
ging the latter.)
Turning right and left is limited by a mechanical stop of the steering knuckle arm
against the axle leg support.
The effect of the servo saver can be adjusted with a knurled nut by
modifying the contact pressure on the two lever arms.
Turning right and left is limited by a mechanical stop of the steering
knuckle arm against the axle leg support.
Installation of the steering servo
-
Point the wheels in driving direction "straight".
-
Place the servo shaft via the remote control transmitter in the neutral
position.
-
Push the steering servo (servo shaft towards the front) in the attach-
ments on the chassis of the RC mounting plate and
-
screw the steering servo with the plastic counter-pieces of the servo
fastening set (underneath the RC mounting plate).
-
Place the servo control lever vertically on the servo shaft in order to
establish a connection as straight as possible with the arm of the servo
saver without modifying the position of the wheels.
-
Screw the steering linkage at the servo control lever and on the arm of
the servo saver
Function control:
-
Support the model at the front in a way that allows the wheels to hang freely.
Because of the good adhesion of the tires and because of the weight of the vehicle, in the stand and on the ground, the wheels will
not follow your steering spontaneously and directly.
This however changes during operation.
-
First, switch on the transmitter, then the receiver.
-
Move the steering wheel (channel 1) towards the right and the left.
Now the wheels must drive in towards the right and the left!
If the wheels turn in opposite direction, change the Servo Reverse on the remote control to position "REV" (Reverse).
-
Release the steering wheel; now the wheels must turn in straight line again.
-
If the wheels do not stand straight when the steering wheel of the remote control is in neutral position, correct
the position by adjusting the trim on channel 1.
The steering wheel limit stops must limit the right / left limit stops of the steering!
