3.2 Shut-off valves

Caution:
Shut-off valves must always be open and secured against unintentional closure. Safety valves must be operated only by trained specialist per-
sonnel! For the operation o the system, the ball valves must be fully open. The shut-off valves are equipped with integral, manually adjustable
non-return valves.
The flow direction or position is marked by a chamfered side on the spindle (see illustration). It indicates the flow direction (see illustration). If
the flow direction is not observed, the non-return valve can act against the intended flow direction and block the flow.
Please find the description of the positions of the ball valve handle in the following illustration.
Ball valve position and operating mode:
1 Position 0°; ball valve open, non-return valve active
2 position 45°; ball valve open, non-return valve inactive
3 position 90°; ball valve closed
Notes: The position 2 can be used for flushing, bleeding and draining. The handle parts with thermometer can be demounted and should be
aligned in accordance with the operating modes (pos. 1 to pos. 3).
Pay attention to the flow direction, i.e. flow (VL) with a red scale and return flow (RL) with a blue scale. If it is a one-line version, only one ball
valve with thermometer will be installed.
