o) Adjusting the speed controller
The speed controller (1) is equipped with a 2-pin cable and a connector plug
(2). This connector has open pins and is thus programmed to detect undervoltage
of a 3-cell LiPo rechargeable battery. If you short-circuit this connector using a
jumper (not included in delivery), the speed controller will be programmed for
2-cell LiPo rechargeable batteries.
For better illustration, the speed controller is shown detached from
the model.
Practical tip:
Use the jumper to determine at what voltage the speed controller will switch off
the motor to prevent the flight battery from being totally discharged.
When the jumper is connected, the switch-off voltage is 6 V. Take this setting when using a 2-cell LiPo flight battery.
When the jumper is not connected, the switch-off voltage is 9 V. Take this setting when using a 3-cell LiPo flight battery.
Important information!
Since the model is operated with a 3-cell rechargeable battery, the jumper must be removed.
Cut a small piece of foam out of the packing and put it onto the open pins. After securing everything by wrapping a strip of adhesive tape around it, the pins are
perfectly secured against damage or short-circuits.
No further settings can be made on the speed controller.
p) Installing the propeller
The spinner cap (1) is only plugged onto the propeller shaft and can easily be
taken off by gently pulling it. After a number of propeller replacements, the
spinner might not stay in place properly anymore. In this case, we recommend
attaching the spinner with a drop of hot glue.
Two nuts are installed on the motor shaft. Push a shim onto the motor shaft in
front of the two nuts. Now push the propeller followed by a second shim onto
the motor shaft. Now attach the propeller using the nut (3).
The propeller (2) itself is fixed by the nut (3) which can be screwed tight using
the provided open-end wrench (ill. 1, pos. 11).
Pay attention to the shape of the air screw when attaching the propeller. The
labelled side must be at the front. Also note that the rear edge of the propeller
must not touch the cowling. There should be a distance of at least 3 mm between
the rear edge of the propeller and the cowling. If necessary, the counter nuts in
the back have to be adjusted for the right distance.
After screwing the propeller tight, you can put back the spinner cap (1).
