WARNING:
any type of battery not recommended by the manufacturer. Do not short-circuit
the terminals of the battery via an electrically conducting connection. Only use
batteries with the appliance that are recommended by the manufacturer. Do
not install batteries probably damaged. The terminals of the battery must be
clean and smooth without any corrosion and discolouration. There may be no
cracks, bulges, or wet stains on the housing of the battery. Do not short-circuit
the terminals within the battery compartment of the appliance to avoid damage.
Batteries contain harmful substances and acids. Do not attempt to open or repair the
battery. Do not dispose of any type of exhausted batteries in domestic waste. Use
the local collection facilities for exhausted batteries.
Important: If the battery is damaged in any way, not working properly, and/or
discharged unusually quickly after charging, please definitely remove the battery to
avoid damage due to acids running out. Additionally, if you wish to store the appli-
ance for an elongated period of time, you should remove the battery first, and store the
battery separately to avoid damage to the appliance and/or battery (see: "Storage").
Proceed as follows to remove or replace the battery.
1. Switch off the appliance (press the "Power" button, the LCD display gets dark)
and remove the decanting bottle. Unplug the power cord from the power supply
and thereafter unplug the power cord from the back of the appliance.
2. Turn the housing of the appliance upside down to make the bottom face upwards.
3. Using a medium sized cross-head screw driver, open and remove the screw, holding
the battery cover. Ensure that the screw will not get lost. Remove the battery cover.
4. If required, take out the old battery.
5. Ensure that the battery you wish to install is in proper working order. There may
be no damages or wet stains or discolourations on the body of the battery, and
the terminals must be neat and smooth without any type of deposits. Do not
install batteries that are probably damaged in any way.
6. With the terminals of the new battery facing to the top-side (now facing down-
wards) and front-side of the appliance, insert the new battery into the battery
compartment of the appliance. If required, slightly push down the battery into
the battery compartment. Do not use any violence to avoid damage to the
terminals of the battery!
Important: The battery cover can be attached only with the battery inserted in
correct orientation. The appliance will only operate on battery without any mal-
function, if the battery cover is closed correctly.
