Check the measuring device and the test leads for any damage(s) before each measurement.
Never carry out any measurements if the protective insulation is defective (torn, ripped off,
etc.).
To avoid an electric shock, make sure that you do not touch the connections to be measured
or the measurement points directly or indirectly during measurement.
Do not use the multimeter just before, during, or just after a thunderstorm (lightning strike /
high-energy overvoltages!). Make sure that your hands, shoes, and clothing, the floor, the
measuring device and test leads, the circuits, and parts of circuits, etc. are always dry.
Do not operate the measuring device in rooms or under adverse environmental conditions in
which flammable gases, vapors, or dust is or could be present. Avoid operation near:
strong magnetic or electromagnetic fields and
transmitter antennas or HF generators,
since this could affect the measurement.
Only use test leads that meet the specifications of the multimeter.
If safe operation of the device cannot be guaranteed, the device must be put out of operation
and secured against inadvertent operation.
Safe operation is no longer guaranteed if:
-
the device exhibits visible damage,
-
the device is no longer working, and
-
the device was stored under adverse conditions for a long period of time or
-
the device was handled roughly in transit.
Do not switch the measuring device on immediately after it has been taken from a cold to
a warm environment. Condensation water that forms might destroy your device. Leave the
device switched off and wait until it has reached room temperature.
Do not leave the packaging material lying around carelessly, since such materials can become
dangerous toys in the hands of children.
You should also follow the safety instructions in each section of this manual.

Battery safety

Correct polarity must be observed while inserting the batteries.
Batteries should be removed from the device if it is not used for a long period of time to avoid
damage through leaking. Leaking or damaged batteries might cause acid burns when in
contact with skin, therefore use suitable protective gloves to handle corrupted batteries.
Batteries must be kept out of reach of children. Do not leave the battery lying around, as there
is risk, that children or pets swallow it.
All the batteries should be replaced at the same time. Mixing old and new batteries in the
device can lead to battery leakage and device damage.
Batteries must not be dismantled, short-circuited or thrown into fire. Never recharge non-
rechargeable batteries. There is a risk of explosion!
