Definition of Terms/Glossary

Firmware

Operating software of the telephone or PBX that is stored in the device itself.
The device is inoperative without the firmware.

Firmware Update

An update means the installation of a new firmware version to integrate new fea-
tures and to solve possible problems. The device sets up a connection to an
update server, over which it receives the latest firmware. The settings on the
device remain unchanged. Except for the charges for the required Internet con-
nection, the update is free of charge.
