9. Commissioning

Operation of the outdoor sensor of the weather station with rechargeable batteries
is possible. However, the lower voltage (battery = 1.5 V, rechargeable battery =
1.2 V) causes the operating duration and display contrast to reduce. Since batteries
are very sensitive to cold, the operating duration of the outdoor sensor drops strongly
in winter.
We therefore recommend operating the weather station and the outdoor sensor with
high-quality alkaline batteries to warrant long and secure function.
a) Inserting Batteries in the Weather Station
• Open the battery compartment (C2) on the back of the basis station.
• Insert three type AA/mignon batteries into the weather station with correct polarity (observe
plus/+ and minus/-). Close the battery compartment again.
• Right after inserting the batteries, the weather station will briefly display all display segments
and some signal sounds are audible. If only crazy characters appear, push the recessed button
„RESET" (B9) e.g. with a toothpick.
• Then the first measured value for barometric pressure appears, then the weather forecast
display flashes. Set the current weather with the buttons „+ (°C/°F)" (B6) and „-" (B7).
• Then the weather station scans for the outdoor sensor radio signal. The display at the bottom
and the reception symbol (lower right of the display) flash. Do not push any buttons and do not
move the weather station.
Now insert the batteries into the outdoor sensor; see next section.
b) Inserting Batteries in the Outdoor Sensor
• Open the battery compartment (D4) on the back of the outdoor sensor.
• Use the channel selection switch (D8) to set the transmission channel „1". If you want to use
several outdoor sensors (one is enclosed with the delivery, up to two others can be ordered as
accessories), each outdoor sensor must be set to a different transmission channel.
• After setting the transmission channel, insert two type AAA/Micro batteries in the battery
compartment in the correct polarity (observe plus/+ and minus/-).
