1.13 Footboards

Cut out the two vacuum-moulded footboards along the edge of the frame (with the half-round
cross-section) and drill two 2 mm Ø holes in the corners of one long edge. Bend four mounting
brackets from 2 mm Ø mild steel rod as shown in the drawing, and fit them in the holes in the
footboards as shown; the whole of the bottom part of the bracket can now be glued in the half-
round frame using Stabilit express, and allowed to project through a hole drilled in the side. Seal
and reinforce the underside of the footboard by gluing a strip of 1 mm ply to it.
The footboards are attached to the fuselage by drilling four 2 mm Ø holes in the fuselage below
the doors, pushing the ends of the mounting brackets through and gluing them on the inside.
Note that the footboards should be positioned so that they lie flat when the fuselage is resting
flat on the workbench with the undercarriage retracted, otherwise there is a danger of damage if
an emergency landing has to be carried out with the undercarriage retracted.

1.14 Exhaust pipes

The kit contains the two exhaust pipes and the auxiliary turbine efflux moulded in smoked-tint
plastic. Trim these parts to fit in the machined oval openings in the upper part of the fuselage.
Trim the openings if necessary so that the pipes can be fitted in them from the inside.
You can obtain a very realistic scale impression by painting the exhaust pipes from the inside
using an airbrush or spray can: first a very thin (non-covering) coat of copper-colour, then silver,
and finally matt black.
The protective grilles over the turbine air intakes are formed from the fly screen material
supplied. Press the grilles through the openings in the upper fuselage cowl and epoxy them to
the inside of the cowl.

1.15 Applying the decals

Optional decal sheets are available to help you produce an attractive scale model; the decals
should be positioned as shown in the kit-box illustration. Since the GRP mouldings feature a
high-quality white finish as standard, there is no need to paint the entire model; all you need to
paint is the matt black areas. To ensure that the paint adheres well to the fuselage it is essential
to rub down the surface thoroughly beforehand using 600-grit wet-and-dry paper, used wet.

1.16 Receiver aerial

The receiver aerial should be deployed as follows:
You will find slots in the sides of the battery console through which cable ties can be fitted to
retain a plastic guide tube (Order No. 3593) in which the aerial can reside. Slip the aerial in the
tube and arrange it inside the fuselage as follows: start at front right and then run it forward in as
broad a curve as possible through the nose of the fuselage, then to the left-hand side of the
battery console (fix it there with a cable tie), then back along the mechanics sub-structure and
finally up to a point below the fan housing. Attach the tube to the mechanics using additional
cable ties as required.
