Safety notes

Read the operating instructions, in particular,  Chapter 2, Safety notes,
carefully before starting work on this current power source.
Warning!
REHM welding units may only be operated and maintained by persons who
have been educated and trained to operate and maintain welding units.
Working with and maintaining electrical welding units always carries slight
dangers. People who are not familiar with units and installations of this type may
hurt themselves or others. For these reasons, the operators must be warned of
the following potential dangers and the safety mechanisms that are to be used to
prevent possible damages. Independently of this, the user of a welding unit must
also inform themselves of the safety regulations of that company prior to starting
work.
6.2

Electrical risks

Connection and maintenance work on welding units and accessories may only
be carried out in accordance with the valid VDE regulations and the regulations of
the appropriate professional associations.
 Never touch metal parts under current with bare skin or wet clothing.
 Always wear gloves and welding masks with the appropriate protection filters
when welding.
 Ensure that all parts that you must touch during your work, for example,
clothing, work area, torch, electrode holder and welding unit, are always dry.
Never work in a wet environment.
 Ensure good insulation by wearing dry gloves and rubber-soled shoes and
standing on an insulating surface, in particular when you are standing on a
metal surface or in areas with increased electrical danger.
 Do not use worn or damaged welding cables. Ensure that the welding cables
are not overloaded. Only use equipment that is in good condition.
 When taking a longer break from work switch the welding unit off.
 Do not wind the welding cable about the housing parts and do not leave it
coiled up.
 Never leave a switched on welding unit unattended.

Personal safety tips

The rays of the electrical arc and the hot metal can both lead to serious burns on
unprotected skin and eyes.
 Only use welding masks with permitted protective filters, leather gloves and a
mask to protect your eyes and body from sparks and from the rays of the arc
(see TRBS 2131 and BGR 500 chapter 2.26). Also wear the same kind of
protective even if you are only supervising welding work.
