2. INTENDED USE

The meter serves to measure and display electric parameters in the range of measurement
category CAT IV up to max. 600 V against ground potential, pursuant to EN 61010-1, as well
as all lower measurement categories.
- Measurement of direct and alternating voltage up to max. 600 V
- Measurement of insulation resistances up to 20 GΩ with an auxiliary voltage of 50 V up to
max. 1000 V/DC pursuant to EN 61557-2. The auxiliary voltage can be set variably in 10%
increments from 50% to 120% of the measurement range
- Measurement of resistance up to 20 kΩ with a test current of approx. 200 mA
- Acoustic continuity check
The measurement functions are selected via the rotary switch.
In the AC measurement range, the actual effective measured value (True RMS) is displayed.
The polarity is automatically presented with a minus sign (-) in the case of a negative meas-
ured value.
Operation is permitted only with the stated battery type (see chapter "Technical data" at the
end of these operating instructions). Operation with rechargeable batteries is not permitted.
The meter may be operated and used only by electricians or persons with technical education
who are familiar with the required standards and the dangers that may result from use of the
meter.
The meter must not be used when it is open, with an open battery compartment or when the
battery compartment cover is missing.
Measurements in damp rooms or under unfavourable environmental conditions such as
wetness or high humidity, dust, flammable gas, fumes, solvents, storms or strong electrostatic
fields are not permitted.
For safety reasons, when measuring only use measuring cables or accessories which are
adjusted to the specifications of the meter.
Any use other than that described above can lead to damage to the product and may involve
additional risks such as short circuits, fire, electric shock etc. No part of the product may be
modified or converted!
The safety instructions are to be observed without fail!
The user manual belongs with this product. It contains important information on starting up and
handling the device. Bear this in mind if you pass this product to a third party. For this reason,
keep these operating instructions for future reference!
