b) Batteries

• Keep batteries out of reach of children.
• Do not leave batteries lying around in the open; there is a risk of them being
swallowed by children or pets. If they are swallowed, consult a doctor immedi-
ately.
• Leaking or damaged batteries can cause severe burns if they come into contact
with the skin. Therefore, use suitable protective gloves.
• Liquids leaking from batteries are very chemically aggressive. Objects or
surfaces coming into contact with these liquids could be considerably damaged.
Batteries must therefore be stored in a suitable location.
• Batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown into fire. There is a risk of
explosion.
• Conventional batteries must not be recharged. Risk of explosion!
• Observe the correct polarity (plus/+ and minus/-) when inserting the battery.
• Use only alkaline batteries, since these are higher-performance and longer-
lasting than conventional zinc-carbon batteries.
