c) Low-ohm resistance measurement "Ω"
Make sure that all the circuit parts, switches and components and other
objects to be measured are disconnected from the voltage and discharged at
all times.
If an electrical current (>2 V) is detected at the measurement input, the
symbol "EXT" appears and the measurement is blocked for safety reasons.
The meter enables the measurement of resistances in the low-ohm measurement range from
0.01 Ω to 20 kΩ. The resistance measurement occurs with a test current of approx. 200 mA for
precise measured values.
Proceed as follows to measure resistances:
- Turn the DMM on and select the measurement function "Ω".
- Plug the red measuring lead into the Ω measurement
socket (5), the black measuring line into the COM measure-
ment socket (6).
- Check the measuring leads for continuity by connecting
both measuring probes to one another.
- Press the "TEST" button to trigger a measurement.
Thereupon, a resistance value of approx. <2 Ohm (inherent
resistance of the measuring leads) is displayed.
- To compensate for the displayed resistance value, press
and hold the "COMP/ZERO" button for approx. 3 s. The
measured value is stored and the display set to zero.
- Connect the two measuring tips to the object to be measured.
- To trigger the measurement, briefly press the "TEST" button or, on the optional remote trip
measuring lead, the knob on the test probe. The measurement is triggered with an acoustic
signal and ends automatically.
- As long as the object to be measured is not high-resistive or interrupted, the measured value
will be indicated on the display. Wait until the display has stabilised. The small display shows
the meter's measurement voltage.
- If "OL" (for overload) or ">" appears on the display, you have exceeded the measuring range
or the measuring circuit has been broken.
- After ending the measurement, remove the measuring leads from the measured object and
turn the DMM off.
