• Close the housing door (1).
Speed range:
1.
Speed level 1: 700 m/min.
For processing hardwood and for fine cuts.
2.
Speed level 2: 1000 m/min.
For processing softwoods and for less fine cuts.
Attention!
All protective devices and covers must be installed be-
fore any work is carried out on the machine. The top
and bottom band wheel is clad by a firmly attached pro-
tection and a moveable housing cover. The machine is
switched off when the housing cover is opened. It can
only be switched on with the cover closed.
9.
Transport
• The machine may only be lifted and transported on
the frame or the base plate. Never lift by the guards,
adjustment handles or saw table for transport.
• During transport, the saw band guard must be in the
lowest position and close to the table.
• Never lift by the table! Disconnect the machine from
the mains in order to transport.
• To use the travel fixture, insert the transport handle
(19) into the transport handle opening. (After insert-
ing the transport handle (19), turn it a little so that it
cannot slip out)
• Now lift the machine by the transport handle (19) until the
machine is on both rear wheels (18) and can be moved.
• Note the high centre of gravity of the machine (top
heavy).
10. Working instructions
The following recommendations are examples for safe
use of the band saws.
The following safe working methods are considered to
contribute to safety but may not be appropriate, fully
or extensively applicable for every use. They cannot
cover all possible hazardous conditions and must be
interpreted carefully.
• When working in enclosed spaces, connect the ma-
chines to a chip extraction system.
• Switch on the chip extraction system before machin-
ing commences.
• Details in relation to the wood chip and saw dust ex-
traction unit installed on the machine:
- Required volumetric air flow rate: 700 m
38 | GB
- Negative pressure at recommended air speed:
1500 PA
- Recommended air speed: 20 ms
• Advance the counter-pressure roller until just a short
distance from the back of the band saw blade, once
the band saw blade is running, after it has been ten-
sioned and once its guide has been adjusted. This
prevents grooves forming in the compression roller,
which can lead to damage to the band saw blade.
This action supports the band saw blade during
sawing operations.
• Always use sharpened band saw blades.
• If the machine is not in operation, e.g. work is com-
plete, slacken the saw band. Attach a correspond-
ing note to the machine for the next user about the
tensioning of the saw band.
• Store unused saw bands together and safely in a
dry place. Check for faults (teeth, cracks) before
use. Do not use defective saw bands!
• Wear suitable gloves when handling saw bands.
• Before starting work, all guards and safety devices
on the machine must be securely fitted.
• Never clean the band saw blade or the band saw
blade guide with a hand-held brush or scraper if the
band saw blade is running. Resinous band saw blades
jeopardise work safety and must be cleaned regularly.
• Wear safety goggles and hearing protection when
working for your personal protection. Wear a hair net
with long hair. Roll loose sleeves up above the elbows.
• Always position the band saw blade guide as close
as possible to the workpiece when working.
• Make sure that the lighting conditions in the working
and surrounding area of the machine are sufficient.
• Always use the rip fences for straight cuts in or-
der to prevent the workpiece from tilting or slipping.
• Use the push stick for processing narrow workpiec-
es with manual advance.
• For angled cuts, bring the saw table into the ap-
propriate position and guide the workpiece along
the rip fence .
• Use a safe method for cutting pegs, e.g. a depth stop.
• For cutting of small wedges, use a guide fixture.
• On curved and irregular cuts, advance the work-
piece using both hands, keeping your fingers closed.
Keep your hands on a safe area of the workpiece.
• For repeated cutting of curve, irregular cuts, use an
auxiliary template.
• For the cutting of round discs, use a circular cutting
fixture.
• Secure the workpiece against turning when cutting
hr
round pieces of wood.
