11 Working instructions (Fig. 1)

ATTENTION
Do not use the product on concrete or extremely hard,
dry, compacted surfaces. The product then tends to
jump and does not vibrate. This can damage both the
plate compactor and the engine.
The number of passes required to achieve the desired
compaction result depends on the type and moisture
content of the substrate. Maximum compaction has
been reached when you notice a very strong recoil.
ATTENTION
Wear safety shoes when handling the product.
ATTENTION
A maximum incline of 20° shall not be exceeded. Other-
wise, the engine lubrication system may fail.
When working on sloping surfaces, reduce the speed by
holding the product back.
The following points must be taken into account when
compacting sloping ground (mounds, embankments):
• On sloping ground, the user must never stand down-
hill of the product.
• Approach inclines only from the very bottom (an in-
cline that can be easily overcome upwards can also
be compacted downwards without risk).
• When using the product, always use the guide handle
(1) to steer it.
• Run the engine (6) at full speed, using the throttle (2).
The product moves forwards under its own power.
When working on slopes, apply additional forward
pressure.
11.1
Notes when compacting
A certain amount of moisture in the ground is necessary.
However, excessive moisture can cause small parts to
stick together and prevent good compaction. Let the
ground dry a little if it is extremely wet.
A very dry floor raises a lot of dust when working with the
product. Adding moisture can improve compaction and re-
duce air filter maintenance.
11.2
Compacting with the rubber pad
(14) (Fig. 6)
When using the product on paving stones, fit the rubber
pad (14) to prevent chipping and grinding of the stone
surface. Refer to 8.3.1.
• You can prevent damage to slabs and natural stones
when vibrating by fitting a rubber pad (14) under the
product.
• Remove the rubber pad (14) when compacting loose,
granular soils and for blacktop repair work.
• When bedding in with the black rubber pad (14), disc-
olouration of the material surface may occur.

11.3
Compacting without the rubber
pad (14) (Fig. 6)
Remove the rubber pad (14) when using the product for
compaction work with gravel, crushed stone and similar
materials. Refer to 8.3.2.

12.1
Cleaning
ATTENTION
Never use a high-pressure cleaner to clean
your product.
The use of high-pressure cleaners shortens
the service life and reduces the ease of main-
tenance.
• Keep handles and grasping surfaces dry, clean and
free from oil and grease. Slippery handles and grasp-
ing surfaces do not allow for safe handling and control
of the tool in unexpected situations.
• We recommend that you clean the product directly af-
ter every use.
