10.4 Spray test
To correctly evaluate the metering module function, the spray pattern and spray
distribution must be evaluated as well as the metered quantity.
- Remove the metering module at the exhaust system. Ensure electric and hydraulic pipes
remain connected (section 9.2).
- Hold the metering module vertically approx 10cm above a sheet of blotting paper.
- Start the spray test at the KTS tester and allow the metering module to meter onto the blotting
paper.
Evaluation:
- Draw a circle around the spray areas on the
blotting paper.
- Spray pattern OK: The three spray beams
are equally distributed and around the same
size. (figure 1)
- Spray pattern not OK: The spray distribution
 overlaps (figure 2)
 the spray beams are arranged in a very decentralized manner (figure 2)
 fewer than 3 spray beams are visible (figure 3)
