Refitting the Transponder Batteries
1. Insert the replacement batteries. Make sure that you fit them the
correct way round with regard to their polarity. Refer to the '+' and
'-' markings on the inside of the battery compartment.
2. Refit the battery cover.
3. Refit the protective rubber case.

Pair Trace Probe (optional)

The Pair Trace Probe, when used with the Transponder, enables you to
trace the copper pair under test at the far end.
Setting up the Transponder
1. Connect the Transponder to the line to be tested.
2. Set the Transponder Address Setting Dial to 0. The 0 setting is a
special setting for use when Pair Tracing.
3. Switch the Transponder on.
4. The Activity LED will flash red indicating that the Transponder is
transmitting a Pair Tracing tone.
5. Use the Pair Trace Probe to locate the line under test.
6. When you have located the line, connect Trend Multipro to the line.
7. This will interrupt the Pair Trace Mode on the Transponder.
See the On-line Help on Trend Multipro for information on setting up Trend
Multipro for use with a Transponder.

Testing a Copper Line

For more detailed information on performing individual tests see the On-line
Help on Trend Multipro. Some tests may require more than one probe,
Transponder or tester.

Copper Applications and Tests

There are two types of Copper Application and the connections depend on
the Application and the type of test you are performing. The type of Appli-
cation determines the tests that are available.
Cable Application
Metallic and Transmission tests are performed on 'dry' copper lines, that is,
lines which are not connected to any active network components.
