WICHTIG! If the resultant correction factor is higher than 30 l/min, it is limited
to 30 l/min.
For the maximum gas flowrate please also refer to the tables specified in the
Chapters "Adjusting ranges for the most usual shielding gases" and "Factory-set
shielding gases".
Gas saving func-
Before the gas flowrate control is able to measure an actual value which is adjus-
tion
ted subsequently, there has to be a gas flow. For this the control valve opens by a
determined value, which corresponds approximately to the gas flowrate expec-
ted.
If there was no optimisation for the first opening, the control valve would have to
open wide in order to prevent an improper gas protection. This would result in an
increased shielding gas consumption until the control is actually started.
The following figure shows the gas flow in the case of a control valve without op-
timised opening:

Gas can be saved thanks to the optimised first opening of the control valve, as
there is hardly any increased gas flow at the start of welding. This procedure is
hence called gas saving function. The gas saving function is factory-set to an inlet
pressure of the shielding gas of 3 bar (43 psi.).
An optimisation of the gas saving function is also possible for other gas pressure
values. The following chapter "Calibration of the gas saving function" describes
the optimisation of the gas saving function for values other than 3 bar (43 psi.).

sed opening:
