2. Important safety instructions
2.1. Common safety instructions
To avoid falls and dangerous situations, you should first practise using
your new wheelchair on level, manageable terrain. An accompanying
person is recommended in this case.
Only drive on level, solid ground.
Be aware of the risk of entrapment between moving parts when
adjusting, using and maintaining the wheelchair.
The accompanying person should be physically and mentally capable
of driving a wheelchair.
The driver and the accompanying person must not be under the
influence of alcohol or drugs.
Before using the wheelchair, please check that all attached parts are
properly fastened.
Only lift the wheelchair by firmly mounted parts (the armrests or the
legrests).
Make sure that the quick-release axles are correctly seated in the axle
sockets, otherwise there is a risk of injury.
Keep clothing and body parts away from gaps between moving parts!
Please note that the risk of tipping over is increased if there is a
shift in balance (e.g. due to strong upper body movements or when
overcoming obstacles).
When negotiating obstacles (steps etc.), an attendant must be
consulted. Use the tipping aid (see chapter 5.24) to tilt the
wheelchair accordingly (fig. A).
Stairs and larger obstacles may only be climbed with the help of at
least two accompanying persons. Use the lifting points for this (see
chapter 6.4). If facilities such as ramps, lifts or stair-climbing aids are
available, use them.

When driving on a slope/gradient, it must be noted that depending
on the set axle position, there is a risk of tipping over from just a few
degrees. The use of an anti-tipper is recommended (Fig. A).
Avoid collisions of any kind! Avoid driving into an obstacle (step,
kerb) without braking or jumping down from steps (Fig. B).
Replace the tyres as soon as the tread is worn down.
When getting in or out of the wheelchair, apply both parking brakes.
Use the parking brake only for parking, it must not be used to slow
down the drive.
Avoid driving on uneven, loose surfaces.
In road traffic, the Road Traffic Act (StVZO) must be observed.
Check the passive lighting (reflectors) of your wheelchair for integrity
and visibility to other road users before each journey.
The seat and upholstery materials meet the requirements of
resistance to flammability according to EN 1021- 2, nevertheless
do not expose upholstery or other parts to fire sources - such as
cigarettes.
The wheelchair may only be used to transport one person.
The wheelchair must not be used to transport loads or more than one
person.
When braking from a fast speed or on long downhill stretches, using
the hand rims, fingers and palms heat up. Caution, danger of burns!
(Fig. C).
We recommend using leather gloves for outdoor riding. These
increase grip and at the same time protect your fingers and palms
from dirt and injuries.
Note that upholstered parts that are exposed to direct sunlight can
heat up and cause skin injuries when touched. Therefore, cover these
parts or protect the wheelchair from sunlight.
