Troubleshooting

If errors occur, check first whether you can correct the problem yourself. The following overview may
help you.
CAUTION!
Never try to repair the device yourself. Contact our service centre or other qualified personnel if a
repair is necessary.
PROBLEM

POSSIBLE CAUSE / REMEDY
Check the mains connection: Is the plug firmly inserted in the mains
socket?
Press the
button on the player then
POWER
control.
If the unit has been affected by a storm, static charging or other exter-
nal factor, try the following procedure:
Press the
button on the player (standby mode). Then pull out
POWER
the mains cable and plug it back in.
Is the disc inserted with the title (printed) side facing upwards?
Check whether the disc has been damaged by trying another disc. If
the disc is dirty, clean it carefully, wiping it from the centre to the edge
with a soft, dry cloth.
DVD: Does the DVD have the correct regional code (2)?
If condensation has formed: give the player one to two hours to dry
off.
Check whether the batteries need changing and have been inserted
correctly. Remove anything which may be blocking the signal be-
tween the infrared transmitter, the remote control and the unit's sen-
sor.
Is the distance between the remote control and the player too great
(over 7 m)?
Did you press the correct source key (e. g.
Are the cable connections between the DVD and television correct and
undamaged?
Is the television switched on?
Have you selected the video channel on the television?
Have you selected the correct video output on the DVD player?
If you have established a connection without the PROGRESSIVE SCAN
function (e. g. SCART), ensure an Interlaced Resolution is selected. If
required, set the resolution to 480i, 576i or 1080i (button
at the front of the unit).
Check whether the HDMI output has been activated (Menu > HDMI
Setup > On), if the television device is connected to the DVD player by
an HDMI cable.
Switch the television device on, if necessary, before you switch on the
DVD player. The image mode of the DVD player will be recognised
automatically at the television device with this.
