Application of the disposable

bacterial filter plate
This suction unit may not be applied without
bacterial filter !
The bacterial filter plate cannot be cleaned or
reused again !
The collection jar lid contains a disposable bacterial filter

plate ( , fig. 6), which protects the interior of the unit
against contamination and stops fluids due to its hydro-
phobic attribute. Together with the mechanical overflow
safety, this filter avoids the sucking-in of secretion into
the interior and, thus, the failure of the unit. The basic
element of the filter material is a porous teflon layer which
is put on a supporting material (polyester fleece). The
pore size of the teflon material is 1µm.
The bacterial filter plate is a disposable part, i.e. it is used
until it is worn resp. until, for hygienic reasons, it can no
longer be used. The disposable bacterial filter plate is
worn when the vacuumgauge on the suction unit shows
a difference vacuum value between -30 kPa and -40
kPa while the system is in closed and the suction hose
in open condition. Hygiene is no longer guaranteed when
the disposable bacterial filter plate is wet as it might then
be a medium for germs and might affect functioning of
the unit. The disposable bacterial filter plate must also
be changed when it is apparently contaminated.
If the suction unit is used in one and the same patient the
disposable bacterial filter plate must be replaced each
week at the latest. If the suction unit is used in several
patients the bacterial filter plate must be replaced after
each use.
