Network configuration
Before it is possible to administrate the HardBoot system comfortably through the
software HardBoot view, the network configuration has to be carried out with a termi-
nal emulation program.
How to prepare for a connection with a terminal emulation program:
To change the network configuration of the HardBoot plus, connect the serial inter-
face of the PC on which the terminal emulation program has been installed to the
RS232 socket on the front panel of the HardBoot plus. Use the supplied serial data
cable for this purpose.
Start any terminal emulation program on the PC (for example HyperTerminal or
PuTTY). Collect the following data to establish a connection to the HardBoot plus:
Bits per second:
Data bits:
Parity:
Stop bits:
Flow control:
How to access the configuration menu:
Establish the connection to the Remote Power Switch HardBoot plus within the
terminal emulation program.
Press the enter key to access the configuration menu.
The configuration menu is displayed in the terminal emulation program. The fol-
lowing figure shows the default settings and the MAC address of the HardBoot plus:

The settings mentioned in the paragraph "Miscellaneous" are not relevant to
operate the HardBoot plus with the software HardBoot view that is supplied in the
scope of delivery.
