IV. Preparing the high-pressure washer for use
WARNING
y Prior to starting the tool, carefully read the entire user's
manual before first use and keep it with the product so
that the user can become acquainted with it. If you lend
or sell the product to somebody, include this user's
manual with it. Prevent this user's manual from being
damaged. The manufacturer takes no responsibility for
damages or injuries arising from use of the pressure
washer that is in contradiction with this user's manual.
Before using this pressure washer, first acquaint yourself
with all the control elements and parts as well as how
to turn it off immediately in the event of a dangerous
situation arising. Before using, first check that all parts
are firmly attached and check that no part of the pres-
sure washer, such as for example safety protective ele-
ments, is damaged or incorrectly installed, or missing.
Damage is likewise considered to constitute damage
to the pressure hose, incorrectly functioning pressure
hose fittings, etc. Do not use a pressure washer with
damaged or missing parts and have it repaired or repla-
ced at an authorised service centre for the Extol® brand
- see chapter Servicing and maintenance, or the website
address at the introduction to this user's manual.
ASSEMBLING THE PRESSURE WASHER
y After unpacking the pressure washer, assemble it accor-
ding to fig.1. The pressure washer is supplied with the
top part removed and separated spray gun holder (fig.
1, position 3). Screw the spray gun holder on to the side,
where there are the screw holes. The top part can be
turned to a tilt angle as required and secured in place
using a wing nut on both sides.
y Screw the metal part of the spray gun into the flange in the
spray gun. Use one hand to hold the flange of the spray
gun in place and using a wrench, screw the metal part into
the flange. In the event of a leak, wind Teflon tape on to the
thread and then tighten the connection by using a wrench.
1. After unpacking and assembling, check the con-
dition of the surface, working order of the con-
trol elements of the pressure washer and whe-
ther there are any visible defects, e.g. unconnec-
ted cables, unconnected fuel supply hoses, etc.
2. Position the pressure washer on a rigid level
surface in a well-ventilated location.
WARNINGS
  The pressure washer must not be operated
in enclosed or poorly ventilated areas or in
environments (e.g. in rooms, deeper outdo-
or trenches, etc.) since the exhaust fumes
are toxic and may lead to poisoning of people or animals.
  The pressure washer must not be operated in an environ-
ment that is flammable or has an explosive atmosphere.
EN
  The pressure washer must not be operated at an inc-
line of more than 10° relative to the horizontal plane,
since at a greater incline the lubrication system is insuf-
ficient and this leads to serious damage to the engine.
  If this incline of the pressure washer is exceeded, fuel
may leak out of the fuel tank.
3. Screw out the filling plug and into the
crankshaft of the engine, use a funnel to pour
motor oil class SAE 15W40 (fig. 4). The oil level
must be at the level shown in the following
pictogram.
WARNING
y When handling oil, use suitable water-resistant protecti-
ve gloves because oil is absorbed through the skin and
is damaging to health.
ATTENTION
y In the event that there is no oil in the oil tank, the oil
sensor will prevent the engine from starting as protecti-
on against damage.
  Use quality motor oils intended for lubricating four-
-stroke air-cooled petrol/diesel engines, e.g. Shell
Helix HX7 15 W-40, Castrol GTX 15 W40 or their
equivalents, with an SAE 15W40 viscosity class. Oils
with an SAE 15W40 viscosity class ensure good lubri-
cation properties at the temperatures in our climatic
conditions (in temperature range of -20°C to +35°C).
Class SAE 15W40 oils can be purchased at fuel stations.
Only quality motor oil may be used in the pressure
washer. Using other types of oils, e.g. food-grade oil
or pneumatic tool oil, or used automotive oil, etc. is
forbidden.
  Never use oils intended for two-stroke engines in
the pressure washer!
WARNING
  When adding or replacing oil, do not mix motor
oils of various SAE classes or oils of the same SAE
class from various manufacturers.
