Operation: Calibration of the Sensor

Before a calibration, immerse the sensor for 10 minutes in a pH 7.00 or pH 4.01 buffer solution
whilst connecting it to a METTLER TOLEDO ISM transmitter or iSense™ software. A 2-point
calibration is recommended, e.g. pH 7.00 and pH 4.01 buffer solutions. The second buffer
solution (besides the pH 7.00 buffer) for the 2-point calibration should be chosen depending
on the desired range of pH measurement. A clean and carefully executed calibration is deci-
sive for the accuracy and reliability of the pH measurement. We recommend using only origi-
nal METTLER TOLEDO pH buffers and solutions for calibrations and storage. For further details

Maintenance

After each working cycle the sensor tip and diaphragm are to be carefully rinsed with a suit-
able solvent, such as clean water, 3M KCl, pH 4 or 7 buffer. Any drying out of residues from
the process media on these parts must be avoided at all costs.
With a soft toothbrush and water any solid residues can easily be removed from the sensor.
Mild washing agents can also be used. Protein contaminations on the diaphragm can be
removed with METTLER TOLEDO Cleaning Solution Pepsin-HCl 6 × 250 ml, 51 340 069.
Once installed, the InPro X1 pH sensor is expected to be CIP cleaned. When defining the CIP
procedures, care must be taken to ensure that the cleaning and disinfection chemicals
used, apart from being suitable for the intended removal of contamination, must not dam-
age the sensor materials.
Warning: Solutions containing hydrofluoric acid could damage the pH-sensitive part of the
sensor and the protective titanium cap.
