Roof fans – VDD T120
• Do not transport the unit on the connection cables, terminal box or impeller!
Do not stand under suspended loads.
• Ensure the suitable load capacity and properties of the mounting surface and
use suitable mounting material.
• The following must be observed before all installation, maintenance and clea-
ning work or before opening the terminal compartment:
◦ Fully isolate the unit from the mains power supply and secure it against
being switched on again!
◦ Wait for the rotating parts to come to a standstill!
• A motor protection device (accessories) is absolutely essential for all motors
(except Ø 315, 355 and 400/6).
• A uniform inflow and free outlet must be ensured!
• Protection against contact must be ensured pursuant to DIN EN 13857 in the
installed condition. If necessary, a protection guard must be installed. Contact
with rotating parts must be avoided.
• It must be ensured that there must be no persons, textiles or other materials
that could be sucked up, such as clothing, located in the intake area. Further-
more, the outlet area must be kept free from objects and material that could
be ejected.
• Easy accessibility for inspection and cleaning personnel must be ensured, ot-
her persons must not have access to the fan.
• It must be ensured that there no foreign bodies remain in the unit after any
work!
• Depending on the fan size, ear protectors may be necessary when working or
standing near the running unit.

Area of application
– Intended use
The roof fan VDD T120 is suitable for conveying normal, contaminated, greasy, hot, less aggressive or humid air, in
moderate climates at temperatures from -20 °C to max. +120 °C. The fan is suitable for conveying kitchen extract air
pursuant to VDI 2052.
Operation is only admissible with fixed installation. The unit is designed for installation in a horizontal position on the roof
and it must be inaccessible to unauthorised persons.
Any other use than the intended use is not permitted!
– Reasonably foreseeable misuse
The unit is not suitable for operation under difficult conditions, such as aggressive media, long standstill periods, heavy
contamination (e.g. greasy air), excessive loads due to climatic, technical or electronic influences.
It is not designed for use in a mobile unit (e.g. vehicle, aircraft, ship, etc.). The motor is designed for continuous operation
pursuant to S 1 and excludes high switching frequency. The operating point must not lie outside of the characteristic
curve. The power supply frequency must be between 20 and 50 Hz.
– Improper, prohibited use
The conveying of explosive gas mixtures/media is not permitted. Installation in an potentially explosive area/atmosphere
is also prohibited. Operation without standardised safety devices (e.g. protection guard) is not permitted. The conveying
of solids or solid content in the transport medium and liquids is not permitted, just like the conveying of abrasive and/or
media that is corrosive to fan materials. The vertical (hanging) installation of the roof fan is prohibited.
1.5
Spatial boundaries
A straight, flat pipe section or free suction must be ensured for the suction area. The outlet area must not be blocked.
A minimum distance of 1 m from the fan must be observed.
The fan must be easily accessible for cleaning and maintenance purposes, particularly the terminal box/isolator switch.
The unit may only be installed in outdoor places where wind speeds of 120 km/h are not exceeded (if necessary, ad-
ditional safety measures must be taken).
Power supply interface:
• Connection only with permanently installed lines
• 3 phases + PE + 2x TB (TK) or TP (KL)
• A motor protection device (accessories) is absolutely essential for all motors (except Ø 315, 355 and 400/6; cf.
section 2.6 "Motor protection device", page 4)
