6 Operation

Use the buttons at the front side to operate and program
MEVAC-4.
Attention: As soon as the button PROGRAM is pressed, only
background music can be heard. The other sources
and detection contacts such as alarm, preliminary
alarm, text, microphones, fireman's microphones
and AUX are without any function! The internal
monitoring functions for amplifiers, speakers etc.,
however, are still active.

6.1 Setting MEVAC-4 into operation

Use the POWER switch on the rear side to switch MEVAC-4
on. The display will show the following information one after
the other:

6.1.1 Selecting the menu language

Three different menu languages can be selected:
German (preset), English and French
1) Switch MEVAC-4 off with the POWER switch.
2) For language selection, the emergency power supply must
not be connected. Disconnect the emergency power supply
first.
3) To select the language, keep the button pressed when
switching MEVAC-4 on again:
T1 for German
T2 for English
T3 for French
4) As soon as the language is indicated on the display (fig. 31),
release the button.
5) Switch MEVAC-4 off again and connect the emergency
power supply.

6.1.2 Starting the installation run

An installation run must be performed to make sure that
MEVAC-4 will recognize the components connected. Dur-
ing the installation run, the units connected will be tested
and integrated. The results of the test will be displayed. The
installation run must only be performed by authorized

personnel who have been instructed with regard to the
technology on which the system is based! The installation
run takes approx. 1 min.; to start it from the idle state of the
system (fig. 33), proceed as follows:
1) Press the red button PROGRAM to display the following
selection menu:
T1=ERROR
T3=PROG.

Note: To go to the previous menu, press the button PROGRAM again.
If no entry is made, all menus will be automatically exited after 15 sec-
onds.
2) Press the button T3; you will be prompted to enter the
required password.

3) As the password, press the button PROGRAM three times.
Then the programming menu will appear:
T1=NEXT
T3=INST.

4) Press the button T3 to start the installation run.
IMPORTANT During the installation run, the installer must
make sure that the system correctly recognizes the relevant
components. Detectors, for example, that are not recognized
during the installation run will be without any function.
6.1.3 Order of the display messages
during the installation run
The following figures show, in the order of appearance, the
display messages that are shown during the installation run.
The values used in the figures are examples and may vary,
depending on the configuration.
