5.6 Connecting the power supply unit

To ensure smooth operation even when the 230 V mains power
supply fails, MEVAC-4 provides a terminal for the connection
of a 24 V emergency power supply unit (39).

The 24 V DC voltage must be continuously available at this
terminal; otherwise, the terminal cannot be monitored by
MEVAC-4. MEVAC-4 requires a current of approx. 600 mA.

This current will always be available when the emergency
power supply EVA-24 / 54 (approved according to EN54-4)
from MONACOR is used. With EVA-24 / 54, output 7, 8 or 9
(each 3 A max.) is used for connection to the terminal (39) of
MEVAC-4. The other two outputs are then available to supply
power to the priority relays for volume attenuators (also see
chapter 4.2.6).

If you want to use the lower-priced PA-24ESP (not approved ac-
cording to EN-54-4), connect MEVAC-4 to the jack (1 A max.!)
shown in fig. 30, located on the rear side of PA-24ESP. The
"normal" 24 V outputs of PA-24ESP will be switched off as
long as mains voltage is available.
