7. Tap out the cartridge (09/3) on a solid sur-
face and blow out from the inside to the out-
side with compressed air to remove dust and
dirt. Important: Water, gasoline, detergents
and similar must not be used to clean the
cartridge.
8. Wash foam pre-filter (09/4) with water and
detergent and allow to dry in fresh air. Im-
portant: The foam pre-filter must NOT be
soaked in oil.
9. Clean the inside of the filter cover (09/1).
Make sure that the intake manifold is closed
off with a cloth (09/5) to prevent the dirt from
getting into the engine.
10. Remove the cloth.
11. Pull the foam pre-filter over the cartridge.
12. Insert the filter element and refit the filter cov-
er.

Maintaining the spark plug (10)

Prescribed spark plug type: see chapter 11 "Re-
placement parts", page 26.
WARNING! Risk of injury from electric
shock. Checking the ignition spark with the spark
plug removed may result in serious injury from
electric shock and fire.
Never check the ignition spark function with
the spark plug removed. Use an ignition
spark tester instead.

IMPORTANT! Danger of engine damage.
Operating the engine with the incorrect spark
plug or without a spark plug will result in serious
engine damage!
Always use the specified spark plug type.
Never start the engine without a spark plug.
1. Remove the spark plug (10/1) with a socket
wrench (10/2).
2. Clean the electrodes with a metal brush
(10/3) and remove any carbon black depos-
its.
3. Check the correct electrode distance (10/5)
with a feeler gauge (10/4).
Note: The electrode clearance of the spark
plug should be 0.6 mm – 0.8 mm.
4. Reinsert the spark plug and tighten with a
socket wrench.

Carburettor settings

NOTE The carburettor must only be adjust-
ed by an authorised service workshop.

Maintenance schedule

Comply with the intervals measured in hours or
years, whichever occurs first.
NOTE It may be necessary to shorten the
maintenance intervals compared to those stated
in the table above in case of severe loading and
at high temperatures.
