Function tests

Fundamentals

The function tests are designed to discover any malfunctions before the machine is put into service. The
operator must follow the step-by-step instructions to test all machine functions.
A malfunctioning machine must never be used. If malfunctions are discovered, the machine must be tagged
and removed from service. Repairs to the machine may only be made by a qualified service technician,
according to the manufacturer's specifications.
After repairs are completed, the operator must perform a pre-operation inspection and function tests again
before putting the machine into service.
Do not operate unless:
You learn and practice the principles of safe machine operation contained in this operator's manual.
Avoid hazardous situations.
Always perform a inspection before use.
Always perform function tests prior to use.
Know and understand the function tests before going on to the next section.
Inspect the workplace.
Only use the machine as it was intended.
The minimum load for a safe operation of the brake is 25-30 kg. The brake will not function without this
minimum load.
Result when raising or lowering the load: the winch should operate smoothly, free of hesitation or binding.

OPERATION

Fundamentals
The operation section provides instructions for each aspect of machine operation. It is the operator's
responsibility to follow all the safety rules and instructions in the operator's manual.
Using the machine for anything other than lifting material is unsafe.
If more than one operator is expected to use a machine at different times in the same work shift, each
operator is expected to follow all safety rules and instructions in the operator's manual. That means every
new operator should perform a preoperation inspection, function tests and a work place inspection before
using the machine.
Caution:
When two towers are used to elevate a bridge or many towers to elevate a structure of any type, it is almost
impossible that two or more people co-ordinate the winches elevating or lowering the loads, at exactly the
same pace.
At a certain point each tower will be extended to a height different to that of the others.
For this reason it is necessary that the subjections of the structure account for this and allow for these
differences. With a rigid fixation and if the level difference is significant, the force generated from the handle
of the winch will deform the structure and apply a lateral force to the lifts causing them to break and block.
The tower can be left in any intermediate position which would be necessary. Just stop turning the handle of
the winch and leave it. The automatic brake of the winch will block it and hold the load.

Raising and lowering the load

In order to adjust the stand height, loosen the fixation screw of the individual telescopic tube and pull the
spring pin. Respect the order of the sections: top section first, lowest section last.
Raise the load by firmly grasping the winch handle and rotating it toward the mast. Do not allow the cable to
wind unevenly onto the drum.
As soon as you have reached the desired height, tighten the fixation screw.
Once the tower is ready in its working position it is recommended to lock the winch handle.
