b) Switching on the device
Prior to working with the device, you must insert the included batteries. For more
information on inserting/replacing the batteries, see "Cleaning and maintenance".
Before getting started, try opening and closing the current clamp a couple of times to
ensure that its jaws function properly.
When turning on the tester, the current clamp must be closed and there must be no
conductor in the clamp opening.
Hold the tester firmly in your hand when turning on. This is important because rapid
movements or application of force to the current clamp can lead to inaccurate meas-
urements.
Pressing the On/Off button (4) turns the device on and off.
The device conducts a short function test after it is switched on. During the function test, all
symbols will appear on the display. The tester is calibrated automatically when turned on and
the display shows "OL Ω". After that the tester is ready for use.
If self-calibration fails, the display shows "Er". This icon indicates that an error has occurred.
This error typically occurs when the current clamp is not properly closed or when the conductor
is clamped when the tester is turned on. In this case, check the current clamp and try turning
the tester on again.
c) Automatic power-off
The tester powers off automatically after 5 minutes. The display flashes for 30 seconds before
the tester shuts off automatically. Press the On/Off button (4) to increase the switch-off time by
5 minutes.
d) Low battery level indicator
The battery level indicator can be found in the top right corner of the display. The bars in the
battery icon indicate the battery level. Four bars indicate that the battery is full and measuring
function is reliable.
One bar indicates that the batteries are almost empty and need to be replaced promptly with
the new ones. When no bars are displayed, this means that the batteries must be changed im-
mediately since the measurement accuracy is no longer guaranteed.
